Roger Hough, the owner of Stow Mill, started painting whilst working at his previous company called Ovolo Designs Ltd. Ovolo Designs was operational for nearly 30 years and worked within the leisure industry supplying artwork and artefacts to many chains of hotels, public houses and restaurants throughout the United Kingdom. When the design decor changed to the modern concept of 'minimalism' with interiors requiring abstract stretched canvases, Roger took up his paint brushes. To remain anonymous to his regular clients he signed his works of different styles with assorted signatures, but eventually settled with the pseudonym "Anaruff" whimsically taken from his own name - an R.'ough.

Today, Roger only paints when he finds time, which with the responsibilities involved with the custodianship of Stow Windmill can only be called very part-time. However, when the opportunity does arise he likes to paint abstract style landscapes, or abstracts with a spiritual influence. He hopes to add more works to this page in due course.
